It is the story of a man who built an empire solely on the strength of his will and talent, always avant-garde, in both artistic and business matters, and who always chose his own freedom rather than complying to the customs of the world of haute couture.
Throughout his life, it is also the incredible mutations of the last 70 years of our history that can be read in a surprising new way : from the end of the pre-war aristocratic world to the emergence of the middle class, from the birth of a youth-subculture to the beginnings of space exploration, from the first steps of globalization to the fall of the communist bloc, Cardin was always one step ahead of his contemporaries, shaking up the hushed world of Haute Couture to build a destiny and an empire.
